What happens in Black Market (2026)?
Black Market takes place against fuel scarcity and mounting economic pressures in Nigeria. Five women depend on an organised cross-border smuggling operation: Zimuzo leads the group, Adesua has a daughter to protect, Aramide supplies their connections, Folake knows the mechanics and Jumai is the rebel of the group. Each has a part to play, and their survival depends on keeping the operation together.
The group's dangerous business becomes personal when a rival kidnaps Adesua's daughter. The women are forced to choose between protecting their earnings and protecting one another. The film's crime story is therefore also about responsibility and trust: a system built to withstand pressure from outsiders begins to break when the threat is directed at a family.
The film's official website identifies the five central women by both actor and character name. Other announced performers, including Lateef Adedimeji, are part of its wider cast, but this guide does not assign them roles that the filmmakers have not publicly confirmed.
The Lagos premiere, theatrical release and filmmakers
The filmmakers organised a large public premiere at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos for 26 September 2026, presented as an attempt to set a record for simultaneous film attendance. The date of that special event is different from the general cinema release date. Grand Cinemas lists Black Market as opening in Nigerian cinemas on 2 October 2026.
Fatimah Binta Gimsay directed and co-wrote the production with Abdul Tijani-Ahmed. Production information on the official site also names Nora Awolowo and Nicole Ofoegbu among its producers. Its combination of a cross-border crime premise and a female-led ensemble distinguishes it from a generic kidnapping thriller.
Black Market is a cinema release, not an authorised free YouTube movie. The linked exhibitor page is the correct place to check a screening and its current price. Showtimes may differ across locations, so an older listing or premiere announcement is not proof that a particular cinema has tickets today.

Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman plays Zimuzo, the leader, while Omowunmi Dada plays Adesua, the mother whose daughter is kidnapped. The official movie site also identifies the actors playing Aramide, Folake and Jumai.
When did Black Market come to cinemas?
The film promoted a special large-scale Lagos premiere for 26 September 2026. Grand Cinemas gives 2 October 2026 as its general theatrical release date. Confirm individual screenings with the cinema.
